New Orleans is a gritty city that Jose Cotto, the subject of this week’s edition of the Photo Crusades, uses to his advantage. Hailing from the projects of Great Brook Valley in Worcester Massachusetts, Jose is no stranger to the streets.
Once he began school, Jose used his origins to his advantage. The camera in his hand was drawn to the world around him. It was no different when he moved to New Orleans in 2012. Connecting with people has always been his goal and focus – “shooting to celebrate life, not take it,” he says.
