Within the world of photography and fine art, brilliantly colorful images are likely to catch anyone’s eye. However, the subject of this week’s Photo Crusades, uses black, white, gray, and sepia shades to express his love of his surroundings. Robert Dutruch, who fine-tuned his skills across the country, returned to Louisiana to follow his passion.
Robert spent the years following his college graduation working and apprenticing for artists in New York. There he pursued work in portraiture and fine art images. Robert now works exclusively in wet plate collodion ambrotypes, platinum/palladium printing, and intaglio heliogravures. His work can be seen in the Lost Hills Studio, with YouTube videos available online that document his creative process.
Let’s see how Robert’s historical processes translate into this week’s theme of the Photo Crusades.
