New Orleans is a mysterious city. This week, the Photo Crusades adopts that mystery and spotlights the Instagram account “A Worker’s Lens.” The artist, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a documentary photographer that concentrates on downtown New Orleans.
In photographing the city, they have chosen to focus on the service industry. As a service worker themselves, they began to realize that New Orleans had always been represented by its architecture and culture. But part of the culture that was missing was the workers. What would a tourist city be without them? “A Worker’s Lens” is not a single event, but an “ongoing narrative.” This narrative focuses on street performers and dancers, but also on the everyday careers of New Orleans residents – construction workers, delivery drivers, and store clerks.
Let’s see how this representation of the city’s hard-working residents translates into this week’s theme of the Photo Crusades
